DANA

Biography: born in 1972 in Tel Aviv, Israel, spent most of her adult life overseas on the island of Barbados. She has been creating art since childhood and sought artistic education, graduating from the Avni Institute of Art and Design. She studied the art of glassmaking in St. Marcos Guatemala and worked as an assistant of the late artist Bill Grace in Barbados. Dana loves to experience working with different kinds of material. She works with clay, wood, glass, papier-mâché, metal, stone, and on canvas with oil or acrylic painting. Her work was influenced by the artist Chuck Close, who used to divide his references into pixels and translate them into his own language of shapes. In her own unique and extraordinary style that she developed, the object is divided into a geometrical design that follows and merges with the natural flow of the subject. Inside each shape, there is a different style of the graphic language of repetition that is taken from Aztec art and psychedelic visions. A language with its own rhythm that creates harmony and vividness. The technique forces diligent observation and true attention to the smallest detail while creating a world that is new, alternative, deep and meditative
